the real problem

“Every day, our law enforcement officers willingly face danger—not just in the heat of the moment on the streets, but in the persistent mental battles they endure as a result of their service. Their commitment to our safety means they often face unseen struggles. It’s time we stand with those who stand for us.” — CJ Ellis

The REAL Challenge
While many mental health resources are available to officers, there’s a critical gap when it comes to accessing these resources. Barriers such as stigma, fear of career repercussions, and the ingrained toughness of law enforcement cultures prevent officers from seeking help when they need it most.

These dedicated men and women run towards threats so that we don’t have to. Their selfless actions lead to:

Nearly 20% of police officers experiencing PTSD—significantly higher than the general public.

The suicide rate is four times higher than the national average.

Divorce rates reach as high as 70%

Families of officers enduring domestic challenges at twice the national average.

These statistics are the result of their unwavering duty to protect and serve the community, often at great personal and familial cost.

What can you do?

The Bulletproof Cop Initiative isn’t just about providing resources; it’s about transforming how officers view mental health support. Richard Davis, a former police officer, recognized the urgent need for protective gear after being shot in the line of duty and developed the first successful bulletproof vest. He demonstrated its effectiveness by even shooting himself while wearing it, reshaping law enforcement’s mindset around safety.
Inspired by his innovative approach, our initiative aims to present mental health resources as essential tools for well-being, just like bulletproof vests. We strive to create an environment where seeking help is a strength, empowering officers to thrive both at home and on duty
